Year 8 Vikings Incursion
The year 8 girls had an insightful and entertaining incursion about the Vikings and were taken on a journey back in time, exploring various aspects of life in the Medieval Times. They were shown the different weapons and armoury used by the Vikings when going on brutal raids in order to conquer new lands and form their own settlements. They also learnt about how people lived in the middle Ages, emphasising the difference between gender roles and social class at the time. Some girls were lucky enough to dress up in medieval time clothing and were given a good understanding of the different way people dressed depending on their social status. The girls also got a taste of how the people in medieval times entertained themselves through playing music and games. They explored the instruments that were made and used at the time and had a fun session outside playing games like medieval tiggy. A very fun day for both students and teachers!
